| Harper
Labell |
|
Harper joined the Jacob's Media team in August, 2006, and was immediately paired with local sports expert Ross Davis to co-host the half time and post game shows for the Networks popular Friday Night High School Football programming. Together, Ross and Harper break down the action as they deliver scores and discuss the teams, players, coaches, and rivalries amongst our local high schools. He joined the Bill & Joel Show that year to deliver some quick insight on the action ranging from the National Football League to local Gainesville programs...and everything in between.
His expertise comes from the ten years he played in the NFL, six of them as an Atlanta Falcon. He is still waiting for the day his Colorado State Rams will be spoken about with the same enthusiasm that Georgian's talk about the Jackets and Dawgs! Although he loves to talk football, he appreciates sharing his knowledge about the other sports that listeners enjoy discussing as well.
His radio career began in Atlanta on 640 WGST in 2004. He worked with Stu Klitenic, Edgar Triggets, and former Brave Mark Lemke on the weekends with Falcon related programming. He was heard on the Tom Hughes morning show every Monday, and with former S.F. 49er, Randy Cross' evening broadcasts as well. The following year, he broadcast to a national audience with FoxSports Radio on a NFL pregame show with Scott Ferrell.
His love of athletics began in his hometown of Sherman Oaks, Ca., a suburb of Los Angeles. His earliest memories take him back to the days when he would listen to Laker, King, Ram, and Dodger games. Yes, he is old enough to recall a time before ESPN, HD television, and up to the minute highlights. A small, Panasonic transistor radio and an oft-changed, fully charged 9 volt battery kept him in touch with the sports world. In high school, Harper lettered in basketball, baseball, and track, but he freely admits that playing under the gridiron lights was one of the most special times in his life. The 44 year old LeBel married Magda Blevons just after signing with the Falcons in 1991. Together, they raise their 4 children (Brian, Mikayla, Alexandria, and Joshua) in Suwanee. |
